Can death be prevented?

We live in a world where death is inevitable. The human race has made significant strides in science and technology, but hasn’t been able to solve the mystery of death. Although research continues to explore how to improve one’s longevity, we are yet to see any tangible results. Can death really be defeated ? What happens to life after death?

Jesus Christ: The Man who was born to Die

On this Easter Day, let us look at a Man who was solely born to die. Wait a minute !!! Born to Die? Yes, he was born to die for the sins of mankind. John 3:16 says “ For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten son that whosoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came down to this earth in order to save mankind. The Bible says in Romans 3:23-“All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God”. We all have the nature of sin in us from the moment we are born. Nobody taught us to lie or steal. But we exhibit these inborn traits of the fallen human nature. By logic, every sinner is punished. How does it work out in God’s court of justice? God punishes sin with death and man was supposed to take that punishment. However, Jesus Christ took the punishment of mankind’s sins on himself through his death. The cruel crucifixion of Jesus Christ shows the gravity of man’s sin.

But, does his story end with death?

Jesus Christ: The Man who conquered death

In the Gospel according to Luke chapter 24, we see the miraculous story of how the stone was rolled away from the tomb where Jesus was buried and the angels declared that Jesus is risen. Can this be possibly true? Every human experience should be validated by evidence and eye witness accounts. We see that eyewitnesses are very important even today in courts where the merit of a case is accounted for by the number of witnesses.

Let us look into the numerous eyewitnesses in this particular incident. The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ is presented mainly in the four Gospels of Mathew, Mark, Luke and John in addition to other historical books. It was a woman, Mary Magdalene, to whom Jesus Christ appeared first and followed by his disciples. When he was in the company of his disciples, Jesus showed them his hands and feet, saying “Behold My Hands and My feet, that it I myself, Handle me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see I have.” (Luke 24:39).

This is the only recorded miracle in history of a man who died and lived again. Not only did Jesus Christ die and rise again, he also ascended into heaven promising to come one day for those who believe in Him.

There is eternal life with God for those who believe in Him. Is that true? Yes.

Jesus Christ said in John 11:25, 26 that “…I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will still live, even if he dies. Whoever lives and believes in me will never die….
