The vain efforts in life
While life offers many comforts, primarily because of the advancement of technology and enhanced economic status, life within oneself remains hollow and without hope. One is always in the rat race for enjoying all the benefits such a life offers, but the goal post keeps shifting endlessly, leading to early wearing out. Failed family lives, divorces, addictions, suicides, loneliness, depression, and children going astray are all reflections of such a life. But one tries to keep the external colorful by putting on a mask while the inside is crying.
A Search for Meaning
Though there are many self-improvement processes, ideas, and many religious practices, they cannot provide the required comfort or peace. The human heart yearns for something more profound, a purpose that transcends the material world. People try to fill this void with various pursuits, such as accumulating wealth, seeking fame, or indulging in pleasures. However, these efforts often lead to a sense of emptiness and dissatisfaction, leaving the soul restless and unfulfilled.
The Promise of True and Living Hope
But all is not lost. 2000 years back there came someone who declared, “I have come to give you life, an abundant life”. He further added, “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life.”
Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came into the world with a profound message of hope and redemption. He promised not just a temporary respite from the struggles of life, but a complete transformation from within. His words, “I have come to give you life, an abundant life,” resonate with the deep longing of every human heart for fulfilment and purpose. God offers a Living Hope to all those who believe in Jesus. This HOPE never disappoints because, It’s grounded on love that HE DEMONSTRATED FOR US. “The Lord Jesus Christ loved us and gave us good hope through grace!” (2 Thessalonians 2:16). But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:6-8)
The basis of this Living hope (1 Peter 1:3)
As stated in the Bible, in 1 Peter 1:3, “Let us bless the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ!” According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead”. This hope is a living hope because it extends beyond this earthly life. Through the resurrection of Jesus, those who believe in Him have the assurance of resurrection to a new life after the life on this earth.
“The death of death in the death of Christ. “
The above subheading is a title of a book by John Owen. This statement affirms a truth stated in the Bible that death was indeed defeated through the death and resurrection of Jesus. In 2 Timothy 1:10 (Bible), we read,–“But it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.” Through the resurrection of Jesus, those who believe in Him have the assurance of resurrection to a new life after the life on this earth.
The Bible promises that one day all our tears will be wiped away, – “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.’ He who was seated on the throne said, ‘I am making everything new!’ Then he said, ‘Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.’” (Revelation 21:4-5, Bible)
The Sacrificial Love of Christ
The Living Hope that Jesus offers is rooted in His sacrificial love for humanity. While we were still trapped in sin and separated from God, Christ willingly laid down His life on the cross, taking upon Himself the punishment for our transgressions. This act of love and grace is the foundation of the Living Hope, a hope that transcends the limitations of this world and extends into eternity.
A Hope that Never Disappoints
“And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out His love into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, whom He has given us.” – Romans 5:5
Everyone who trusts in Jesus Christ for salvation from sin has reason to LOOK BEYOND this world. When life has you in its cross hairs and there seems to be no respite for your weary soul, remember, there is hope. It’s not wishful thinking, but it’s sure. The Living Hope offered by Jesus Christ is unwavering and steadfast, for it is anchored in the unchanging character and promises of God.
